Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kibar was born in 1964 in İskenderun. He completed his primary and secondary education in Dörtyol and graduated from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, in 1987. He began his academic career as a research assistant in the Department of General Surgery at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine between 1987 and 1989. In 1989, he joined the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine; he received his specialist title in 1993 and, in the same year, was appointed assistant professor; he became associate professor in 1997 and professor in 2003.

He served as Chair of the Department of Nuclear Medicine for approximately 12 years. He has authored more than 100 scientific articles, 45 of which were published in journals indexed in SCI/SCI-Expanded. He has participated in organizing numerous courses, panels, and congresses and has served as an editor and advisor for prestigious journals. He translated and edited two printed books: Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging: The Requisites (Akademisyen Kitabevi, translation, 2023) and Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging: Methodology and Clinical Applications (2 volumes, 2023). In 1998, he completed a three-month assignment at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis, Missouri, USA).

His administrative duties included: Deputy Chief Physician of Balcalı Hospital, Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine (1999–2001); Executive Board Member of the Faculty of Medicine Empowerment Foundation (2000–2002); Member of the Postgraduate Education Coordinators Board of the Faculty of Medicine (2001–2003); Chief Physician of Balcalı Hospital and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2005–2006). He served as Chief Physician at the Private Acıbadem Adana Hospital from 2009 to 2012.

His professional memberships include the Adana Chamber of Physicians, the Turkish Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.

He served as Rector of Çukurova University for two terms between 2012 and 2020.

He served as a Board Member of the Association of University Hospitals between 2013 and 2020 and as a member of the Education and Science Committee of the Turkish–Russian Public Forum between 2014 and 2020. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Ministry of Health Nuclear Medicine TUKMOS Board, and since 2023, a member of the Advisory Board of Istinye University.

He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kibar is married to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Kibar and is the father of two children, Ali and Adil Mert.
